Company Background

IAC's mission is to use advanced intelligent systems to solve problems not being addressed by the oil and gas industry. To achieve this goal, we leverage technologies developed through U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) research.

Neil de Guzman began this technology transition in 1998 via a strategic alliance with Baker Hughes. Since that time, a number of other companies have provided support and funding, including BP, Halliburton, Marathon, Statoil, Shell, and Weatherford.

IAC began developing associative memory applications for the oil and gas industry in January, 2004. This R&D effort was funded by Shell to develop an innovative approach for recognizing abnormal patterns in multi-channel, time-series data – the kind of data streams typically produced by intelligent wells. IAC validated our methods using data sets from high-performance wells in the Gulf of Mexico and developed the tools needed to build low-cost intelligent agents.

Through a partnership with Weatherford, IAC has applied these innovations to develop an intelligent agent for gas-lifted wells. IAC’s agent fuses well data, performance estimates generated by models, and expert domain knowledge to provide operators with targeted information about problematic wells and how these wells can be fixed. Field trials of the product begin in December, 2008.
